can we measure the consumption of power of a particular appliance by clamp meter ?
because as far as i know we can calculate the load by the clamp meter of any particular appliance, so by using power %26amp; power energy calculations we can easily find out the energy consumption of that appliance, is this true ?
where we apply or clamp the clamp meter on a particular appliance or device ?
thanks|||clamp meters measure the current.Since we know the voltage, we can cal;culate the power.
By using the formula root3xvxIxcos Theta.
Vvoltage
I current
cos Theta power factor
Root three for three phase|||true.
you clamp it on the line cord, but you have to open it up so you can separate the 2 or 3 wires and just clamp it on the hot lead.
Or make a male-female short extension cord with the wires separated and use that.
