Concerning purchasing price when is the best time to buy an appliance for the home ?

I'm in the process of replacing a major kitchen appliance and wondered when most retailers had their best "sale specials." Is before Christmas, after Christmas, or after New Year the best time to buy? This probably would best be answered by someone with experience in the retail appliance business or a purchaser for new homes or rental units.|||after, and at the end of the wk,|||after what?
