What appliance have you owned in your home the longest and why?

Think of an electrical appliance in your home that you have had for years, or perhaps since you moved in!

There are things which come and go and get chucked out all the time, why have you not thrown this out?

Is it because it has never broke down?

Maybe it looks great?

Or you have sentimental attachment to it?

How is it timeless to you?

I will be interested to hear your insights :-)|||a moment's silence please for a Morphy-Richards TUID toaster, given to my parents as a wedding present in Jan 1959 and which has just toasted its last this morning, over 50 years later!

better replace it before they come back from holiday - but sadly it won't be the same model!|||Has to be my GHD hair straighteners. I paid nearly 拢200 for them and thought it was very very expensive - but when you think they have moved house with us 3 times in 7 years, that is not that bad actually!

:)|||I havent found any electrical appliances that last years|||The tumble dryer, don't know how old it is. My partner had it already when I moved in with him, I do know it is more than 11 years old. Think it is on its last legs now has it is making a binding noise when it is switched on. Just going to run it till it breaks down altogether then buy a new one.|||We had an a/c for over 22 years that just kept on going and going. When we moved house I donated it to the men who were moving in because I was scared that moving it would wreck it. Four years on it is still going strong.

We also had a fridge that lasted 16 years. I had to let it go in the end because is wasn't ozone friendly and I couldn't get the gas for it any longer. That broke my heart because it was so efficient in our 30C+ heat.

Every time my husband wanted to change them I would ask him if he wanted me to change him just because he was old.

Worked every time!|||I moved into my house 5 years ago and bought a washing machine (the first one in 24years) I use it once a week do do the bed linen everything else I wash by hand.It only takes 10 mins a day to do do %26amp; requires little ironing although I do have a spin dryer to use in the winter. My washing machine will probably last longer than I will.|||Although I don't use it I have an old B %26amp; W portable TV - which was bought for me as a Chrisy Prezzie way back in 1990 ! It STILL works fine !|||My Maytag washer purchased in 1973 and still used every week. It does the job so why replace it. Today's appliances are not built to last.|||Out toaster. I got it before I married at university and it still works 25 years later.
