Can i use an american electrical appliance in ireland with a standard adapter?

i bought a hot tools deep waver {hair waver} electrical appliance on ebay to find when i opened it that it had an american plug. apparently i have to buy a transmitter thing that costs around 鈧?0 to make it work here ~ is this true or can i just use it with a standard adapter?|||The operating voltage will be different USA is110volts UK 220volts you will need the thing or it will blow up.|||It's a transformer, as it's a heating appliance.

Probably cheaper than 40 Euros to buy a multi-voltage (110/240v) one in Ireland and use it there with the attached 3 pin plug.Best to buy a plug adaptor in Ireland to convert it to a US plug.Less hassle and cheaper.|||If the label inside says 100-240V or somethig like that, you can just use a plug adapter.

If the label says only 110-120V, you need a converter transformer or solid-state converter as well or instead of a plug converter.
