Do electronic regulator affect the speed and performance,the appliance that is equip with it?The appliance happen to be a ceiling fan,will the regulator affect the speed of the fan or it just reduce the excess electricity that is waste.|||The regulator controls the speed.
The ceiling fan is probably an AC induction motor. The motor speed is controlled by reducing the applied voltage. An electronic regulator usually does this the way a dimmer switch does for electric lights ... it controls when the voltage is connected to the load, the phase duration of applied voltage, thus reducing the effective voltage and the corresponding torque, and speed.
