How can I tell how much electricity my small kitchen appliance is pulling?
I have a toaster oven/convention 1500 watts
Microwave Oven 1050 watts
which one would pull a whole lot of electricity?|||If the microwave is rated at 1050 watts OUTPUT it is probably pulling around 1500 watts continuously while operating on full power.
The toaster/oven combo probably has two 750 watt elements; one used for the toaster and both used when the oven is on. As they will sometimes be used separately, and will be controlled by a thermostat, they will on average draw less than the microwave. In any case the difference depends entirely how you use each appliance and for how long it is on. My money is on the microwave drawing more power on average, but there's not much between either!|||You could read what you have just written, which says it all.|||The number of watts is the amount of electricity the appliance "pulls".
Watts already is a measure of electricity. Your electric company bills you for each watt-hour you use (1 watt for 1 hour).
