What is a dummy version of an appliance?

I saw for sale ad online that said that it was the "Dummy version" of the appliance. Does this mean that it works or doesn't work like a store model or something?|||its for display purposes in a retail CE store. Like a fake TV on a TV stand, to give you an idea of what your tv would look like on top of it.|||It's either going to be a cardboard replica , or a quite real one - though it would be just the outside metal part , with the inside parts not installed - such things as motors , electronics , etc.
