How can I find out how old an appliance is?

I have an old Tappan Microwave and have a card with the model and serial number. How do I figure out the age of the oven? Is it worth keeping until it dies or replacing while I do remodel work in the kitchen?

I usually can find a year on the back of an appliance but not this one.|||I agree with httnmrtt. Go to their website and contact them via email if you can't get an answer on the site.

If it works, you can certainly still use it. Newer models of any appliance have more features and might be more efficient. If you microwave doesn't have a rotating plate, it won't heat your food as efficiently as a microwave that does. You may have to heat the food longer or have to turn the bowl/plate to ensure it heats evenly. If you don't care about that stuff, then keep it.

Since you are remodeling your kitchen, consider having the microwave on it's own circuit breaker. They are energy hogs.|||On Google----just enter the model number and brand.|||Here's a link to Tappan repair parts.
