I have looked in the mirror like a hundred times, bringing my jaw forward to see what the herbst appliance will do to my jaw. are the dentist going to make your tips of ur top and bottom teeth fully touching? or just a slight overbight? also, my molars wont be able to touch so how the heck am i going to eat my food?|||I had the herbst appliance, almost done with it!
It brought my jaw forward immediately. Your teeth will usually adjust after a little while, and your teeth will touch. However, in my case, they cemented it on a little wrong, so my left side doesn't touch. Now that I'm done with the appliance (I have no more/very little overbite. They're just making sure that my bite doesn't move back to the way it was), they said they can fix that. Overall, it's a very effective appliance. My mom was a dental hygienist and she comments on how much that appliance changed my profile (in a good way, it brought my lower jaw forward), and I only had a mild overbite to begin with.
